How is data collection going?
I have created the survey I am sending out to a class. To get more data I have posted in in local and out of state Facebook groups. I just met with the principle of Baranof Elemenary school to see about posting it to the schools Facebook group with the hopes of getting more families to fill out the survey because right now i only have 21 submitted surveys.

Comments

  1. If you administer surveys on a regular basis, you will find that it is quite depressing to know the percentage of responses you get on average. (If I remember correctly, about 30%) Any response you can get is valuable, but still try to get more! It's great that you are researching how to get more parental involvement by using technology. It seems like since our school has been using PowerSchool, it hasn't really increased parental involvement. Just cause it's easier to access your kids' grade and attendance information via technology doesn't imply MORE parents will use it. :-( It's an intrinsic thing to care about how your kids are doing in school. All I can say with certainty is that it is practically impossible to get 100% parental involvement and communication. All we can hope for is a majority. Good luck with your results.

  2. Its interesting that you are struggling with getting parent involvement using Technology and that is your research. I hope that of your surveys that you get you are able to find somewhat of a trend in parents who are willing to participate. Great layout!
